Organic and ceramic membrane filtration

Membrane filtration is a filtration technique for separating water from soluble substances, such as oils, organic substances (soaps), suspended solids and metals (particulate or ionic).

It can be used both to remove pollutants from wastewater and to produce process water. It can also be used for any separation of molecules in a liquid medium.

Ceramic membrane filtration is generally used as an alternative to organic membrane filtration in the following cases

• Viscous liquid filtration

• Filtration at high temperatures

• Filtration of liquids incompatible with organic membranes

It should be noted that reverse osmosis is not possible with ceramic membranes
